A wonderful hospital for people with dementia

I attend the Bowes Lyon Unit of the Lanchester Road Hospital in Durham where I am treated for my Lewy Body Dementia, and I can honestly say that all of the staff are truly amazing and genuinely interested in all they care for, whether in patients or out patients.

The hospital staff are so kind from walking in the front door to leaving, and it is so well laid out that you feel at home as soon as you walk in the front door.

Although I have not been in the gardens, I have seen them from the road and they look so peaceful, and a very relaxing environment.

I have never been in a hospital like this until we came back to the North East of England after my diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia, and it was nothing like the hospitals I have been in before.

This hospital only opened in 2002 the year before I went back to the North East again, ans it was well designed with dementia taking the forefront. There are too many hospitals which are anything but dementia friendly but this one hits all of the right notes, and even the corridors are covered in paintings and Murals of the North East.

Many thanks to all of the wonderful staff and doctors

As with all of my blogs they are checked with spell check, as my spelling is getting worse these days.
